Kolhapur, May 14 -- Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) leader and former MP Raju Shetty has voiced anger over the central goverment's decision to ban sugar exports, which will directly affect sugarcane producer farmers. He has termed the decision as "unwise" and "foolish".

The central government on Wednesday imposed a ban on sugar exports with immediate effect till September 30 or until further orders.

There is a possibility of a decline in sugar production in the country. Against this backdrop, the aim of the centre's decision is to keep domestic sugar prices under control and ensure adequate domestic sugar supply.
