CENTCOM destroys IRGC surveillance tower along Gulf of Oman

Washington, July 17 -- The US said it destroyed an IRGC surveillance tower on Iran's south-eastern coast on Wednesday, releasing declassified footage of the strike as part of its campaign to militarily weaken Tehran's hold over the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said American forces had targeted the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port surveillance tower in the port city of Chabahar.

"On July 16, U.S. forces successfully destroyed the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port surveillance tower, part of a maritime surveillance network along Iran's Gulf of Oman coastline used for decades by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to track and target commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said.
