Patna, Aug. 16 -- Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Sunday described Bihar as the "motherland of democracy" and praised the people of the state for setting a new benchmark in electoral participation during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
Kumar, who arrived here this afternoon on a two-day visit to Bihar, told newspersons before leaving for Sitamarhi that Bihar has a rich and historic democratic tradition, with Vaishali regarded as one of the earliest centres of republican governance in the world.
