New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday approved the construction of a 135.87-km four-lane access-controlled highway corridor from Baihata Chariali near Guwahati to Tezpur in Assam at an estimated cost of Rs 8,970.20 crore, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving regional connectivity, reducing travel time and strengthening economic and strategic links across the Northeast.
The project, which excludes the 15.11-km Mangaldoi Bypass, will be developed on National Highway-15 under the National Highways (Original) programme through the Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Toll mode.
