New Delhi, May 12 -- In a significant escalation of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formally taken over the case earlier being investigated by the Rajasthan Police and registered an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

The central agency is now set to begin a detailed probe into the alleged examination leak racket, including recording statements of accused persons already detained by various police units and investigative agencies.

The controversy surfaced after a hostel operator in Rajasthan's Sikar district reportedly compared a so-called "guess paper" circulating before the May 3 NEET-UG examination with the actual question paper and found striking similarities. Sources...
