Chandigarh, June 1 -- In a significant development in the alleged Rs 13 lakh bribery case linked to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau headquarters, Inspector OP Rana, who was absconding and is known to be the reader of the Director General (Vigilance), surrendered before a CBI court in Chandigarh.

The court subsequently remanded him to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for seven days for further interrogation.

Sources said Rana had recently withdrawn his anticipatory bail petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court after reportedly receiving unfavourable indications during the proceedings. Following the withdrawal, the High Court dismissed the plea, paving the way for further legal action.
