Chennai, March 27 -- A CBI Court in Chennai on Friday convicted and sentenced a former Income-Tax department Officer and six others to four years rigorous imprisonment in a 2019 Rs 2.38 crore IT refund fraud case.
The Court convicted and sentenced Babu Prasath Kumar, the then Senior Tax Assistant in IT department and six private persons--B Praveen Kumar; Trewellyn Marion Corneille; P Stephen; A Gopikrishna; Venkatesh and C Gunaseelan--and awarded four years RI and also imposed a total fine of Rs. 2.4 lakh on them.
