Atul KrishanNew Delhi, June 10 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Delhi Police Inspector for allegedly accepting a bribe through a hawala operator in exchange for helping a Puducherry-based man and his associate secure relief in CBI cases pending against them.
Inspector Pradeep Singh allegedly introduced the accused persons to an unidentified senior public servant (believed to be an IAS or IPS officer), who claimed to have strong connections within the CBI and allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore to facilitate favourable outcomes in the cases.
Pradeep Singh was arrested while a part payment of the alleged Rs 3 crore bribe was being delivered through a hawala channel.
