Thiruvananthapuram, May 25 -- An editorial published by the Catholic Church-backed Malayalam daily Deepika has mounted a sharp attack on the Kerala Government and Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan over the continuing Munambam Waqf land dispute, accusing the government of failing to honour promises made to affected residents.
The strongly worded editorial, titled "Do Not Mutilate Justice to Fit the Shoes of Waqf," criticised the Waqf Board's decision to register 404 acres of disputed land in Munambam on the union government's UMEED portal and described the move as a challenge not merely to 610 affected families, but to "secular Kerala" itself.
