Kolkata, June 18 -- The Calcutta High Court declined to pass any interim order in the case related to the post of Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly on Thursday, allowing Ritabrata Bandopadhyay to continue in the position for now.
The court did not interfere with Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose's decision recognising Ritabrata as the Leader of the Opposition.
Justice Krishna Rao said the next hearing in the matter will take place on July 28 and directed all parties to file affidavits before the scheduled date.
The dispute emerged after severe infighting within the Trinamool Congress legislative party following its poor performance in the 2026 Assembly elections.
