Kolkata, July 9 -- The Calcutta High Court granted interim relief to the Kalighat faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), permitting it to use funds from three frozen bank accounts for essential organisational and legal expenses while placing their operation under the supervision of a court-appointed Special Officer.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, hearing the matter on Thursday, appointed retired judge Justice Subrata Talukdar as the Special Officer to manage the three accounts until September 30.
Under the interim order, the Kalighat faction will not have direct control over the accounts. Instead, any withdrawal must be made through the Special Officer.
