Shimla, March 30 -- The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged major irregularities in disaster fund management in Himachal Pradesh, revealing that poor utilisation of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) led to significant reduction in central assistance.

The CAG report for the year ending March 2023 presented by the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu pointed out that large unspent balances-about Rs 1,498.60 Cr. during 2020 and 2021-resulted in the Centre withholding fresh releases under NDRF, adversely impacting disaster response capacity in the State.
