Bengaluru, July 27 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said the formalities for the much-awaited Cabinet expansion would be completed this week, signalling that the long-pending exercise has entered its final stage ahead of the Assembly session.

Speaking to reporters before leaving for New Delhi, Shivakumar said, "The Cabinet formalities will be completed this week," but did not disclose the names of likely inductees or the date of the swearing-in.

Senior Congress leader and MLC Saleem Ahmed said Shivakumar's Delhi visit was part of the final round of consultations with the party leadership, as he had already indicated that the Cabinet expansion would take place this week.
