New Delhi, July 15 -- The union Cabinet on Wednesday approved Semicon 2.0, a new phase of the Centre's semiconductor programme with a total budget outlay of Rs 1,27,500 crore, aimed at strengthening India's semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem and providing long-term policy support to position the country as a global semiconductor hub.
Announcing the decision after the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said the programme builds on the momentum generated under Semicon 1.0 and reflects the government's commitment to developing a complete semiconductor ecosystem in India.
