Davanagere, March 23 -- Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday dismissed BJP claims that the Davangere South Assembly by-election could foreshadow the party's victory in the 2028 state polls, asserting that Congress continues to enjoy strong public trust and a proven track record of fulfilling promises.

Speaking to reporters after attending the nomination filing of Congress candidate Samarth Shamanur, Siddaramaiah said people have faith in a Congress party that delivers on its commitments and champions inclusive development.

"Congress stands for all communities - women, farmers, minorities, workers - and has largely fulfilled the promises made over the past three years. This is why we are confident of winning this by-election," he said.
