New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand's fairytale run at the 2026 BWF World Championships ended with a bronze medal after the unseeded Indian pair lost 21-18, 13-21, 8-21 to top seeds and defending champions Tan Ning and Liu Sheng Shu of China in the women's doubles semifinal at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

The World No. 39 Indians, who had stunned fourth seeds Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian in the quarterfinals on Friday, made a strong start but could not maintain their intensity as the Chinese pair fought back to win the contest in one hour and 11 minutes.
