Kolkata, June 28 -- A businessman was allegedly abducted at gunpoint by a group of men posing as CID officers and later robbed after being unable to meet a ransom demand of Rs 1 crore in Kolkata on Saturday night.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Phulbagan Police Station.
According to police sources, the businessman, a resident of Baduria in North 24 Parganas, is involved in the import-export business.
He had visited a shopping mall in the Phulbagan area along with two associates and reportedly attended a business meeting there.
Police said that as the businessman and his companions were leaving the mall, several men approached them claiming to be CID officers.
