Kolkata, May 30 -- With fuel prices shooting through the roof in the past few weeks, the bus operators in the city and suburbs are demanding immediate intervention of the new chief minister on the issue of fare hike for private and minibuses.

A meeting of six organisations, including private and minibuses, along with pool car operators, was held on Saturday to decide their course of action amid the rising fuel prices.

The bus operators, who gave their demands as individual organisations, have now decided to submit their 10-point demand to the state Transport Department on June 2. The demnds include a fare hike and formation of a regulatory body with immediate intervention of the new chief minister and the Transport minister.
