Lucknow, April 13 -- Buddhist monks held a grand peace march in Lucknow on Monday, carrying the message of world peace and compassion.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya welcomed the march. During the march, he said, "Buddham Sharanam Gachhami is the true path to peace."Describing India's tradition as based on peace, equality, and brotherhood, he said that Lord Buddha's teachings are extremely relevant in today's global landscape.

The peace march began from the Dr. Ambedkar Mahasabha office on Vidhan Sabha Marg and proceeded through Hazratganj to the Deputy Chief Minister's camp office at 7-Kalidas Marg.
