Hyderabad, Sept. 8 -- TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday accused the BRS of maintaining an anti-Dalit stance and repeatedly insulting Dalits and women.

Speaking in the Legislative Council, Goud said the incident involving remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Monday was deeply distressing. He said caste-based remarks against a person holding the dignified office of Speaker were unacceptable and amounted to insulting the House itself.

Goud alleged that BRS leader K Chandrashekar Rao was staying away from the Assembly because the Speaker was a Dalit. He said insulting the Speaker's mother, who had passed away, was particularly painful and could undermine public respect for the Legislature.
