London, May 11 -- As Britain and France are set to host defence ministers from more than 40 nations on Tuesday to discuss military planning aimed at restoring and protecting the flow of trade through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has warned countries against deploying warships in the strategically vital waterway.
According to a UK Ministry of Defence statement, Defence Secretary John Healey will co-chair the meeting alongside French Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin, marking the first defence ministers' session of the proposed multinational maritime mission.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has warned Britain and France against deploying warships that have the potential to escalate diplomatic tensions over the initiative.
