Rio de Janeiro, July 26 -- Brazil has denied visas to two senior US State Department officials, accusing Washington of attempting to interfere in the country's October presidential election by engaging with political leaders and electoral authorities ahead of the vote.
The officials Riley M. Barnes, Assistant Secretary in the US State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, and Samuel Samson, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the same bureau have applied for visas on July 20 to visit Brazil between July 27 and 30.
