Chamarajanagar, May 10 -- A Bengaluru-based boy was killed in a leopard attack while trekking near Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district on Sunday, triggering concern over safety of pilgrims and trekkers in the forested region.

The deceased has been identified as Harshit, a resident of Laggere in Bengaluru. He was trekking along with his family and a group of around 10 members from the main Male Mahadeshwara Hill area towards Nagamale when the incident occurred near Indigana stretch of the route.

According to forest officials, the leopard suddenly emerged from the dense forest and attacked the boy in front of his family members. The animal then dragged him into the nearby forest area, causing panic among the group...
