Bengaluru, July 1 -- Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday alleged that officials engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were facing pressure from the Karnataka government, and urged the Election Commission (EC) to step in by issuing explicit directions to ensure a free and impartial revision process.
In a post on X, Bommai claimed reports were circulating that officials involved in the SIR exercise, which commenced on Tuesday with the distribution of enumeration forms, had been instructed to function under pressure from the state government and the ruling Congress.
