Pune, Aug. 19 -- The Bombay High Court has granted interim protection from coercive action to a Mumbai police officer Swadesh Chavan in connection with a case filed against him by a 31-year-old woman under charges including rape and cheating.
Justice Madhav J. Jamdar directed that no coercive action be taken against Chavan, who is preparing for the Civil Services examination, until August 24, 2026, when the matter is scheduled to be heard further.
During the hearing, counsel appearing for the Applicant, Advocate Aashuutosh Srivastava, placed before the Court the background and chronology of the relationship between Chavan, a Police Sub-Inspector posted in Mumbai, and the survivor.
