Mumbai, Feb. 25 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has significantly stepped up its investment in public healthcare, announcing a 22.14 per cent increase in the Health Department allocation for 2026-27. The move reflects a major drive to upgrade medical infrastructure and expand services across Mumbai's civic-run hospitals.

In the revised outlay for 2025-26, the Health Department had been allocated Rs 6,104.75 crore, of which Rs 4,537.05 crore was set aside under revenue expenditure and Rs 1,567.70 crore under capital expenditure. For 2026-27, the proposed Budget Estimate has climbed to Rs 7,456.80 crore.
