Mumbai, July 16 -- The Regional Passport Office at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) received a bomb threat through an email on Thursday morning, triggering a major security response, police said.

Soon after the threat was received, teams from the Mumbai Police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the Passport Office and conducted a comprehensive search of the premises.

After a thorough inspection, no suspicious object or explosive material was found and the threat was declared a hoax, officials said.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the sender of the email. Cyber experts are examining the email and its technical details to identify its origin.
