Bengaluru, July 4 -- Karnataka BJP on Saturday warned the Congress government against ignoring the growing farmers' unrest in Mandya, demanding the immediate release of water from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir for irrigation and cautioning that any administration forcing cultivators to repeatedly take to the streets would ultimately face the people's verdict.
Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader R. Ashoka alleged that the government had adopted an anti-farmer approach by failing to address the concerns of growers grappling with drought-like conditions and acute water scarcity.
