Shimla, July 25 -- Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would launch a phased statewide agitation against the Congress government, alleging that the verdict in the recent Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies elections reflected public dissatisfaction with the ruling dispensation.
Addressing a press conference here, Thakur claimed that the election results had sent a clear message that the people wanted the Congress government out of power.
He alleged that attempts were made to suppress the public mandate but asserted that the ruling party had failed in doing so.
