Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- The Odisha unit of the BJP has decided to scale up its agitation in support of the Women's Reservation Bill by organizing the "Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra" at the mandal level across the state from April 27 to 29.

Announcing this on Monday, party MP Anita Subhadarshini Pattnaik said the move follows an enthusiastic response to similar padyatras held earlier in Bhubaneswar and district headquarters. As part of the programme, a large women's torch rally will also be held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Highlighting the Centre's initiative, Pattnaik said Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the "Nari Shakti Vandan Act" to ensure 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies, aiming ...
