Ranchi, June 5 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced its decision to contest the Rajya Sabha election in Jharkhand and said the name of its candidate would be announced by Saturday morning.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BJP Legislature Party held at the party's state headquarters here under the chairmanship of state president Aditya Sahu. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh and party leaders attended the meeting.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, BJP chief whip and Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal said the party had decided to field a candidate for the June 18 Rajya Sabha election and was confident of winning a seat.
