Chamarajanagar, July 13 -- The political battle over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls intensified in Karnataka on Monday, with the BJP demanding that the Congress government immediately withdraw its decision to issue Permanent Resident Certificates, alleging that the move was undermining the integrity of the revision exercise.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka accused the state government of attempting to "hijack" the SIR process, which he said was intended to ensure that only eligible Indian citizens are included in the electoral rolls.
