Ranchi, May 27 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo on Tuesday demanded that the Jharkhand government establish detention centres in border districts and launch a verification drive against alleged illegal infiltrators.
In a statement, Shah Deo welcomed the Centre's reported move to constitute a high-level committee under a former Supreme Court judge to address issues related to illegal infiltration and national security.
He alleged that districts such as Pakur, Jamtara, Dumka, and Sahibganj had been affected by illegal infiltration for a long time and claimed that Jharkhand was emerging as a "safe zone" due to what he described as the state government's soft approach on the issue.
