Ranchi, May 31 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday demanded the immediate arrest of the alleged main accused in the murder of a pregnant woman in Bermo and sought compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the victim's family.
Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, BJP state general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri alleged that the arrest of six accused was made only after public pressure and the party's threat to launch a Bokaro blockade agitation. He claimed that attempts were initially made to shield those involved in the case.
Bauri demanded the arrest of the alleged kingpin in the case, action against police and medical personnel found guilty of lapses, and an inquiry into the role of district and police authorities in handling the matter....
