Ahilyanagar, May 4 -- BJP's Akshay Kardile secured a resounding victory in the Rahuri Assembly by-election, with a margin of over one lakh votes.
The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) suffered a major setback, with its candidate Govind Mokate facing a crushing defeat.
BJP candidate Kardile won by a margin of 111,826 votes.
"My political journey has begun today. But it is unfortunate that my father is not with me at this moment. Over the past 30 years, my father worked for the people tirelessly-he gave his blood and sweat, turned nights into days, and lived among ordinary people. He dedicated his life to public service, and as a result, the people have not left me alone today," said Akshay Kardile.
