Bengaluru, June 21 -- A controversy has erupted within the BJP over reported plans to convene a party meeting in the temple town of Dharmasthala to identify alleged cross-voting in the recent Legislative Council elections, with senior MLA S Suresh Kumar issuing a sharp warning against what he described as the politicisation of a sacred space.

Reacting strongly to the proposal, Suresh Kumar said he was "truly shocked" by the party leadership's decision and asserted that bringing political suspicion into Dharmasthala was unacceptable.
