Aizawl, Sept. 21 -- BJP MLA K. Hrahmo has called for implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Mizoram, arguing that it could provide greater legal protection to Mizo women in cases involving marriage, property and abandonment.
Speaking at a political session of the BJP Mizoram State unit at its office in Aizawl on Monday, Hrahmo said people in Mizoram often opposed new laws introduced by the Centre without fully understanding their provisions, out of fear that such legislation could affect the state's interests.
