Ranchi, April 5 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday sharpened its attack on the Hemant Soren government, alleging that illegal sand mining, weak enforcement and administrative failure had combined to create a wider governance crisis in Jharkhand.

At a press conference here, BJP spokesperson and former MLA Amit Mandal accused the ruling alliance of failing to act against illegal mining despite repeated public commitments and Assembly-level assurances on regulation, monitoring and public access to sand.

He also sought to link the issue with rising road fatalities and alleged unchecked movement of heavy vehicles, arguing that the government had failed both on enforcement and public safety.
