Kolkata, July 28 -- In a major administrative reshuffle aimed at reviving stalled rural governance in West Bengal, the BJP government has transferred 99 Block Development Officers (BDOs) across the state, marking the first large-scale overhaul at the grassroots administrative level since assuming office in May.
The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department has already issued a notification formalising the transfers.
Since the BJP government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari took charge in the second week of May, it has carried out a series of changes in the higher bureaucracy and the police administration.
The latest reshuffle extends the exercise to the block level, which forms the backbone of rural administration.
