Kolkata, May 18 -- In a major administrative policy shift after the change of power, the newly formed BJP government in West Bengal announced that all religion-based government welfare schemes in the state would be discontinued from June.

The decision was announced after the second cabinet meeting of the new government held at Nabanna under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday.
