Bengaluru, April 23 -- What began as an Election Commission of India (ECI) notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has now escalated into a coordinated political offensive by the BJP in Karnataka, with senior leaders demanding an unconditional apology and even his resignation from the party post.
Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R Ashoka set the tone for the attack, calling Kharge's alleged remarks "a disgrace to the Congress Party" and accusing him of political opportunism.
Ashoka said the Congress was already on the backfoot nationally and alleged that internal leadership ambitions were driving such statements.
