Hyderabad, Sept. 17 -- Telangana BJP celebrated Hyderabad Liberation Day at its state office in Nampally on Thursday, with state BJP President N Ramchander Rao and union Minister G Kishan Reddy hoisting the national flag.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramchander Rao described September 17 as a historic day for Telangana, recalling the integration of the erstwhile Hyderabad State with the Indian union following Operation Polo in 1948.

He said the people of the erstwhile Hyderabad State had fought against the Nizam's rule and the atrocities of the Razakars, and credited Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with the integration of Hyderabad into the Indian Union.
