Bengaluru, Aug. 3 -- The ruling Congress found itself at the centre of a fresh political storm on Monday after senior BJP MLA and former minister S Suresh Kumar accused it of eroding constitutional conventions by issuing the names of the Karnataka Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Legislative Council Chairman and Deputy Chairman on the party's official letterhead while announcing its new political appointments.

Calling it an "unprecedented and dangerous precedent", Suresh Kumar alleged that the Congress had blurred the line between the party and constitutional institutions by treating non-partisan constitutional offices as an extension of the ruling party.
