Bengaluru, Aug. 4 -- BJP Legislative Council Opposition Chief Whip N Ravikumar on Tuesday alleged that the induction of senior Congress leader SS Mallikarjun into the Karnataka Cabinet may have been driven by "greater income" and claimed that last-minute bargaining delayed the swearing-in ceremony by an hour.

Addressing reporters here, Ravikumar demanded that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) explain why Mankal Vaidya was dropped from the list of ministers while Mallikarjun was included.

"Was SS Mallikarjun made a minister for greater benefit? Was Mankal Vaidya dropped because there was no benefit in inducting him? The AICC must answer. Perhaps there was greater income. I do not know how much," he said.
