Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 -- The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD), accusing it of indulging in "cheap politics" over the long-pending Mahanadi water dispute and failing to take any concrete steps for water conservation during its 24-year rule in Odisha.
BJP state general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy, while addressing a press conference here, said the BJP government was making sincere efforts to ensure that Odisha gets its rightful share of Mahanadi water and that the dispute is resolved in the interest of the state's farmers and people.
