Bhubaneswar, July 27 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday asserted that merely enacting stringent laws would not eliminate the recurring menace of question paper leaks, stressing that only strict, impartial, and effective enforcement can deter offenders and restore public confidence in the examination system.
Reacting to the Centre's move to amend the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and the introduction of the amendment Bill in Parliament by union Minister Jitendra Singh, the BJD welcomed the objective of imposing harsher penalties for examination-related offences.
However, the party maintained that legislation alone would have little impact unless implemented sincerely and without discrimination.
