Bhubaneswar, June 1 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Odisha government, alleging that police brutality and custodial torture have increased significantly under the present administration.

Addressing a press conference at Shankha Bhavan, BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Dr. Lenin Mohanty, along with Biju Chhatra Janata Dal president Ipsita Sahu, accused the police administration of failing to curb crime while subjecting innocent citizens to alleged third-degree torture inside police stations.

Dr. Mohanty claimed that despite repeated assurances by the Director General of Police (DGP) that criminals would not be spared, law and order in the state has continued to deteriorate.
