Bhubaneswar, May 9 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Odisha government, alleging that the state is heading towards lawlessness amid a recent surge in violent crimes.
Addressing a press conference here, BJD senior general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar claimed that the prevailing law and order situation in Odisha has worsened significantly, asserting that it has surpassed even states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in terms of rising violence.
She said a series of incidents over the past 10 days, including murder, rape, and attempted murder, have created fear among the public and fostered a perception that the rule of law has weakened in the state.
