Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- Stepping up its attack on the BJP government in Odisha, the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday alleged that the state was being "shortchanged" in central assistance, citing a reduction in Odisha's share under the recommendations of the Sixteenth Finance Commission and the alleged non-release of funds under key centrally sponsored schemes.
Addressing a press conference here today, former minister and BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to strongly take up the issue with the union government, contending that the BJP's promise of enhanced central support under a "double-engine government" had failed to translate into reality.
