Patna, May 26 -- Bihar has emerged as the top-performing state in the eastern region in rural sanitation, securing first position in the "Swachh Survekshan Gramin-2025," according to a report released by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The report declared Bihar as the best-performing state in eastern India, while Bhagalpur district earned recognition as the top-performing district in the region.
As per the findings of the survey, Bihar achieved the highest ranking among eastern states based on key parameters such as sustainability of toilet access in rural areas, solid and liquid waste management, overall sanitation practices and active community participation.
